Travelling this weekend, so a perfect time to borrow some images and showcase a great website. Catalin Stefan lives in Dresden, Germany, and is a devoted arenophile. And some of this devotion has been directed to building his World Atlas of Sands website, which I thoroughly recommend as rewarding a visit and a browse – it’s a beautifully constructed site. There are articles, discussions of software and sample storage (he kindly included a photo of my humble efforts), links to an extraordinary range of fellow enthusiasts around the world – and many superb images of samples from his collection. It’s clear to me that his photomicrography skills and equipment are far superior to mine – I need to find out how he does it!
So, enjoy these images of Bali sands – above left, Cucukan Beach, right, Klotok, and below Sanur Beach foraminifera (of which I have written before) on the left, and Legian Beach on the right. But, even more importantly, then visit Catalin’s website and have a look around – you will enjoy it.
