Thank you, Michael, for bringing us news of this marvelous research. And congratulations on bringing order from chaos, yourself from isolation("Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite"), and sense from the nonsense of the "thousand-year event."

How many books have been published in the last decade, explaining the difference between power laws and periodicity, and how much effect have they had on public policy? Bats, alas, are not the only species living with their own guano.
