I poured out a sample of sand and put it under the microscope. Immediately, as if prepared for exhibit, there was this selection of grains set in a tiny shell - it needed no re-arrangement. It just struck me as satisfying, and a happy conspiracy. The sand was collected by friends from the beach at Comporta, south of Lisbon - it's not a sand distinguished by strange minerals or exotic biological components, but it sure knows how to present itself at its best.
I hope that 2011 will be filled with happy conspiracies for all of you.

Michael,Here's to more happy and "sandy" days in 2011 :)
